Ginger George-Smith has been hired as spokesperson and director of resource development and marketing at NeighborWorks Anchorage. George-Smith joins NeighborWorks Anchorage from Standing Together Against Rape, where she worked as the director of development and marketing and events coordinator for nine years. Ginger was awarded an Alaska State Legislative Citation by the 27th Alaska State Legislature for her positive work in Alaska. She has more than 30 years experience in fundraising and resource development in Anchorage with a degree from Colorado State University.
Effective July 23, Sherri McKay-Highers was appointed chief financial officer and vice president, finance and administration for Chugach Electric Association. Prior to this appointment, McKay-Highers was serving as manager, budget and financial reporting, guiding Chugach’s financial planning and reporting responsibilities. She has worked at Chugach for more than 15 years and has held various accounting management positions.
Strategies 360 announced the hire of integrated marketing expert Sally Bock. She’ll lead the creative division, which includes award-winning graphic designers, digital and social media experts, SEO specialists, advertising producers, account managers, and website developers. Previously, Bock was a senior vice president at Pyramid Communications, where she oversaw creative service and digital teams. With deep experience in health care, education, arts, philanthropy and more, she has worked with clients including the Anchorage Museum, Alaska Federation of Natives, Seattle Foundation, Seattle Art Museum, and the University of Puget Sound.
American Fast Freight Inc. has hired Mike Bevers as senior vice president, strategic initiatives. Prior to joining American Fast Freight, Bevers most recently held the position of director of supply chain-purchasing for Darigold. Bevers is a Seattle native and attended Washington State University for his undergraduate degree and he received his master’s in business administration from the Foster School of Business at the University of Washington Seattle. Bevers is a member of the Tacoma Transportation Club, Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals and has served as a guest lecturer for a number of transportation associations.
At a special meeting held on July 23, the Bering Straits Native Corp. board of directors selected Lee Michael Ryan, vice president of Ryan Air Inc., to fill the board seat previously held by the late Martha Anagick Aarons. He will serve a two-year term on the Board. Ryan is the chief pilot for Ryan Air, where he has been employed since 1994. He has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Alaska Anchorage, and also attended Northern Arizona University. He was born and raised in Unalakleet, and is the son of BSNC shareholder Wilfred “Boyuck” Ryan and his wife Victoria. In 2009, Mr. Ryan was recognized by the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce and the Alaska Journal of Commerce as a “Top 40 Under 40” professional. He currently serves as chairman of the State of Alaska Aviation Advisory Board.
Northrim Bank has promoted Jessie Giamona, Bryann Hanks and Heidi Roesler. Giamona has been promoted to assistant vice president, training and development manager. She has been with Northrim since June 2011. Jessie is a 2013 Anchorage Society for Human Resources board member and recently obtained her Professional in Human Resources certification. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a major in human resources management. Hanks has been promoted to consumer and small business lender at the Small Business Center. She has been with the bank as a loan administrative assistant since August 2012. She has 13 years of banking experience to include more than five years branch experience, one year as a deposit compliance officer and more than seven years in lending as an administrative assistant and assistant cashier. Along with her banking career, she has over four years of related accounting experience. Roesler has been promoted to vice president, human resources talent manager. She has worked at the bank for more than 10 years and has worked as an assistant compliance officer, human resources officer, professional development officer and loan collateral specialist. Heidi holds a master’s of business administration and a master’s of public administration. She also has the Senior Professional in Human Resources certification from the HR Certification Institute and is working on her Certified Compensation Professional certificate.
