Aviation construction

Central Region Department of Transportation Aviation Projects that will be advertised for work in the year 2008 will help to improve runways and taxiways with a mix of state and federal funding are as follows:

Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport will reconstruct taxiway K from Taxiway D to Taxiway R to higher standards. Estimated cost range, $5-10 million.

Goodnews Bay Airport: Reconstruct and extend the existing runway, construct a new safety area and new apron, taxiway and access road, as well as construct a new SRE storage building and install new medium intensity light system. Estimated cost range $5-10 million.

Platinum Airport Relocation: Relocate airport and construct a new 3,380 X75 foot runway, apron, taxiway, airport access road, and new equipment storage building. Establish lease lots, and install lighting. Estimated cost of $5-10 million.

Bethel Airport Complete Parallel Runway: Complete construction of B-11 parallel runway. Estimated cost $2.5-5 million.

Kipnuk Airport Relocation-Phase II: This project will complete the construction accomplished under Phase 1 with embankment surfacing for the runway, taxiway and apron along with runway and taxiway edge lighting. Storage buildings will also be constructed. Estimated cost $10-20 million.

King Salmon Airport Taxiway and Miscellaneous Improvements: Construct parallel taxiway for runway 11/29, expand terminal apron, relocate access road, construct helipad, install wind cones and resurface crosswind runway 18/36. Estimated cost $10-20 million.
