BILL EXPANDING DENTAL ASSISTANT DUTIES PASSES HOUSE
By Bradners’ Alaska Legislative Digest
A bill expanding the duties that dental assistants are permitted to perform passed the House March 19.
House Bill 319, sponsored by Rep. Jay Ramras, R-Fairbanks, allows dental assistants to place fillings and to polish teeth under a dentist’s supervision.
The legislation would increase the efficiency of oral dental care, which would have the affect of expanding access and lowering costs, Ramras said.
House Bill 319 has now been sent to the state Senate.
