Bill protecting nonunion worker benefits advances in House
By Bradners’ Alaska Legislative Digest
A bill that requires Project Labor Agreements negotiated under the Alaska Gasline Inducement Act to require employers to offer workers the option of employer benefit programs or benefit programs offered by a collective bargaining unit has passed from the House Labor and Commerce Committee to the Finance Committee. House Bill 391 is intended to ensure that non-union workers under a gas pipeline contract have benefits options other than those offered by unions. Similar legislation is pending in the Senate.
