The National Park Service in conjunction with the Denali Foundation, the Alaska Natural History Association, Doyon/ARAMARK, the Greater Healy/Denali Chamber of Commerce and UAF Outdoor Adventures, will host the 3rd annual Winterfest Celebration at the Denali National Park & Preserve. The event kicks off Feb. 21 at 5:30 p.m. and runs through Feb. 23. The event will feature several winter recreational activities and survival skill clinics. The University of Fairbanks Geophysical Institute is offering Science for Alaska, a free lecture series, at the Wendy Williamson Auditorium on the University of Alaska Anchorage campus every Monday evening through March 10 at 7:15 p.m. The Feb. 17 lecture will feature Syun-Ichi Akasofu, director, International Arctic Research Center and professor of pyschics at UAF.
