The Alaska Aerospace Development Corp. board of directors has appointed Pat Ladner president and chief executive. Ladner has served as executive director since 1992. Ladner's responsibilities will remain essentially the same, according to Mark Hamilton, board president, but the new title better reflects the duties Ladner performs on a daily basis. During his tenure, Ladner championed construction and growth of the Kodiak Launch Complex on Kodiak Island, secured five launch contracts for the facility and promoted aerospace-related economic growth in Alaska.

The Denali Commission on Jan. 18 established a seven-member Energy Advisory Committee of business and civic leaders to provide policy and technical advice to the commission. Eric Yould, chief executive of the Alaska Rural Electric Cooperative Association, is serving as chairman. Other members of the committee include: Nan Thompson, Regulatory Commission of Alaska chairwoman; Steve Bushong, chief operating officer of the Copper Valley Electric Association; Ernie Baumgartner, general manager of McGrath Light and Power; Willie Thomas, mayor, City of Buckland; Mark Smith, president, Yukon Fuel Co.; and Anthony Caole, Bethel-based management consultant.

Mike Dye has been re-elected as president of the Homer Chamber of Commerce board. Dye is a vice president of First National Bank of Alaska. Julie Woodworth, a vice president of Wells Fargo Bank Alaska, was elected vice president, and Mary Ann Rowe of First American Title was re-elected treasurer. Newly elected board members are Debra Leisek of Bay Realty and Kevin Fraley of Print Works.

Jackson
Orley
Resource Data Inc., a database, geographic information systems and Internet developer, has hired Barry Jackson and Joseph Orley. Jackson was hired as a programmer/analyst. Jackson has 29 years of procurement experience with the State of Alaska, including 24 years as contracting manager for general services. Jackson is developing Web-enabled, electronic-commerce applications. Orley was hired as a programmer. Orley initially interned for Resource Data while completing a bachelor's of business administration degree in management information systems from the University of Alaska Anchorage. Orley's responsibilities include developing Web site and Web reporting applications for a local government utility.

Grigg
Denny Grigg recently joined HDR Alaska as a senior bridge engineer. Grigg, a professional engineer, has nearly 40 years of civil and structural engineering experience in highways, specializing in bridges and major structures. Grigg also has experience in urban freeway systems, contracts and specifications, and retaining wall systems, particularly mechanically stabilized earth walls. Grigg served the Arizona Department of Transportation for 27 years as a state bridge engineer, urban highway engineer and bridge design engineer. Following his retirement from the department, Grigg served as a consultant for three major design-build projects.

Brian Wick, mathematics professor at the University of Alaska Anchorage, and three co-authors have won the Mathematics Association of America's Chauvenet prize. The award honors their exposition "A Stroll Through Gaussian Primes" and describes the winners as among the most distinguished of mathematical expositors or mathematicians who can clearly explain mathematical ideas. Wick has taught at UAA since 1972.

Yvette Milne, president, and Lori Davey, vice president, have opened a new business for professional marketing services, Alaska Marketing Consultants Inc. Milne and Davey have more than 25 years of collective marketing and sales experience. Milne and Davey have worked together in promotion and sales from 1992 to 1998 in the pharmaceutical industry and with various nonprofit organizations during the last few years. Milne has marketed pharmaceuticals for SmithKline Beecham, Wyeth Ayerst and Glaxo SmithKline. Davey has worked for the Sheraton Anchorage Hotel, SmithKline Beecham Pharmaceuticals, in telecommunications with Alaska Call Connection and Danlor Communications, and with Xerox Corp. marketing outsourced technology services.

Joe Murdy has been hired as director of the Municipality of Anchorage's Development Services Administration. Murdy is responsible for facilitating and enforcing land use and development codes for the municipality. Murdy oversees four divisions: safety, land use enforcement, technical services and right of way. Murdy is a general contractor whose projects in Anchorage have included three hotels, several restaurants and shopping malls.

Loudon
Greg Loudon has joined Brady & Co. as an assistant vice president in the aviation group. Loudon is a returning Brady employee. Loudon most recently served as project manager for Science Applications International Corp.
