Gov. Sarah Palin reappointed Cathy Foerster to the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission Jan. 31.
Foerster has 30 years of oil-industry experience and has worked for
Petrotechnical Resources Alaska, BP, Arco and Exxon. She has a
bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of
Texas.
“I welcome the opportunity to continue to serve the state of Alaska as
the engineering commissioner of the AOGCC,” Foerster said. “The AOGCC
is currently working on important projects which have a heavy emphasis
on petroleum engineering; continuity in the engineering commissioner
position will help ensure their successful completion. These projects
include determining the appropriate gas allowable off-take for the
Prudhoe Bay and Point Thomson fields, revising our regulations for
safety-valve systems on wells, and re-evaluating our regulations and
reporting requirements for flaring.”
“We are so pleased that Cathy will continue her service on this
important commission,” Palin said. “With her extensive industry
experience, she has shown an excellent understanding of the oil and gas
environment and brings a unique perspective to this important state
agency.”
Foerster was appointed in March 2005 to serve the remaining two years
of an unexpired six-year term left vacant when Randy Ruedrich resigned.
The Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission is a three-member
commission that oversees oil and gas drilling, development and
production, reservoir depletion and metering operations on all lands
subject to the state’s police powers.
