Credit Union 1 has hired John Powers to manage its new investment services program. Powers is a financial consultant with 13 years experience in the financial industry. Powers' responsibilities include regular visits to all Anchorage Credit Union 1 branches as well as those in Eagle River, Fairbanks, Soldotna, Kodiak and Ketchikan.
The Ketchikan Visitors Bureau has hired Arien Crockett as administrative assistant. Gordon Patterson also has joined Ketchikan Visitors Bureau as fulfillment and facilities specialist.

Analytica Alaska Environmental Laboratories, located in Anchorage and Juneau, has appointed Tim Dean to national sales representative. Dean will be responsible for generating sales revenues and developing new business in Alaska, Washington and Hawaii. Dean has more than six years of experience in direct technical sales, customer service and contract negotiations. Dean will also assume a lead role in account management and customer support for the Alaska-based laboratories.

Brady & Co. has hired Nan Schleusner as human resources manager. Schleusner, a certified professional in human resources, will manage recruiting and hiring for the company as well as administer benefit plans and other programs at Brady & Co. Schleusner has experience in the telecommunications industry and previously worked for Alaska Fiber Star and WCI Cable.
The Anchorage Board of Realtors has installed the following 2002 officers: president, Linda Friday Cardoza, and vice president, Carole Mayer, both with Prudential Jack White Real Estate; president-elect, Bert Dozark, RE/MAX Properties; treasurer, Julie Pace, Pace Real Estate; and secretary, Pete Farris, Dynamic Properties.

Impact LLC has hired R. David Stephens as chief information officer. Stephens will manage the communication and technology company's infrastructure and business services through analysis and selection of technologies. Stephens previously served as director of academic technology services at the University of Alaska Anchorage, where he increased the number of technology-enhanced courses and developed an electronic pedagogy training curriculum for faculty.

| Thomas |
Howard Paul Thomas has received the 2001 Harold R. Peyton Award from the American Society of Civil Engineers. Thomas received the award for his work in the field of cold regions engineering at the annual Civil Engineering Conference and Exposition in Houston last fall. Thomas, of Anchorage, worked with the award's namesake, Peyton, who was manager of engineering during design and construction of the trans-Alaska oil pipeline in the 1970s. Thomas has practiced cold regions engineering as a consulting engineer for Geoengineers Inc. for the past 26 years.
Jamie Meyers has been hired as the lead flight director for the Challenger Learning Center of Alaska. Meyers previously worked for 13 years as an elementary teacher for Natrona County School District Number One in Casper, Wyo. Meyers served as the kindergarten through sixth grade language arts/math facilitator in a computerized learning class for the past three years. Meyers will be responsible for managing the education staff at the center and coordinating in-facility missions, electronic missions, out reach programs, workshops and camps.

Richard Reich has joined ASCG Inc. as a senior vice president/ business analyst. Reich is a former ASCG design engineer who left the engineering, architectural and technical service consulting firm to manage the village water and sewer program for the North Slope Borough's Capital Improvement Program Management office. Reich, a professional engineer, also served on ASCG's board of directors during this time. Reich is a founding member of the American Indian Science and Engineering Society, Alaska Professional Chapter.
Margy Henderson, Pat Schmick and Cary Kirkland have earned the International Association of Administrative Professionals' advanced certified administrative professional designation. Henderson works for Alyeska Pipeline Service Co. Schmick is employed by BP Exploration (Alaska) Inc. Kirkland is a senior administrative assistant with Phillips Alaska Inc. Henderson, Schmick and Kirkland are members of the Anchorage Billikin Chapter of the International Association of Administrative Professionals. The prestigious and internationally recognized designation reflects the highest standard of excellence for administrative professionals. Attainment of the designation certifies that an individual has obtained a high level of knowledge and skill of the administrative support profession.
