The Senate Resources Committee continues natural gas pipeline overview sessions Friday and Saturday, Feb. 1 and Feb. 2, with groups interested in an Alaska gas pipeline. The committee will hear from Backbone II, a citizen group, at 3 p.m. Friday and from BG Group, a major U.K.-based energy company, on Saturday, Jan. 2, at 11 a.m. BG Group was one of the companies interested in making a proposal under the Alaska Gasline Inducement Act but then did not do so. Committee chairman Sen. Charlie Huggins, R-MatSu, said he is interested in hearing BG’s views of the Alaska gas project and why the company chose not to submit a proposal under AGIA. |
