The Mat-Su Small Business Development Center will present a workshop on advanced QuickBooks from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the SBDC office at 201 N. Lucille St., Ste. 2-A (second floor of Key Bank) in Wasilla. The seminar will provide up-to-the-minute information on doing payroll and inventory, plus how to use this program in your business bookkeeping. Those wanting to register for this workshop should have either taken the beginning QuickBooks workshop or be very familiar with and have used QuickBooks software. The Anchorage chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction will discuss the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at its monthly meeting held at the West Coast International Inn. The University of Alaska Fairbanks Small Business Development Center will offer a workshop on writing a business plan from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The workshop will cover how to prepare a strategic business plan. Sound business plans are required by lending institutions and equity investors in order to determine potential business viability for loan or investment. Fee is $35. The Mat-Su Small Business Development Center will present a workshop on starting a small business from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the SBDC office at 201 N. The workshop will discuss how money works, tax laws, defining specific goals, protecting yourself against major losses, developing a financial plan, taking action and paying yourself regularly.
