Alaska Modular Space Inc. received several awards at the recent Associated General Contractors of Alaska conference. AMSI earned an "Excellence in Construction" award for modular classroom construction in Kotzebue and Kivalina and an "Excellence in Safety" award for having zero lost time accidents in its six years of operation. Pete Stone, general manager, received the association's Hard Hat Award. ASMI is a full-service distributor of mobile offices, storage containers and modular buildings throughout Alaska.

Anchorage is the site for the Winter Cities 2004 Conference to be held Feb. 18-22, 2004. Representatives from various cities in the United States, Russia, China, Japan, northern Europe and Canada will exchange idea on improving the quality of life in northern climates. The conference has three parts: a sustainable economic summit, a world-wide mayor's conference and promotion of cultural and sporting events. The conference will be held at the Egan Convention Center and is expected to bring $500,000 in delegate spending to the Anchorage area.
