After 10 years as president and chief executive officer of Arctic Slope Consulting Group, John McClellan is stepping down.
The announcement came on Jan. 9 in a letter to the employees of ASCG.
“My contract with NANA expires at the end of January, and I've requested it not be renewed,” McClellan said in his letter announcing his retirement.
“Ten years ago when I returned to ASCG as your president and chief executive officer, I did so with the stated intent I would stay until I retired. That time is now upon us.”
But McClellan will continue to advise ASCG until new management is in place, according to a letter obtained by the Journal.
“For the next year or so, while learning to be a house-husband, I'll retain my current ASCG office phone number, e-mail address and carry an ASCG business card with the title 'Principal' in order to transition some external affairs to other ASCG managers.”
NANA management did not return calls to the Journal to address questions about who will succeed McClellan as the next president of ASCG.
In June 2005, ASCG became a wholly owned subsidiary of NANA Regional Corp. As a subsidiary of NANA, ASCG is a 100 percent Alaska Native-owned corporation.
