AHFC adopts changes to home inspector requirements

To comply with Alaska state law, effective Jan. 1, 2006, the Alaska Housing Finance Corp. will require all home inspectors, including those currently approved or certified by the International Conference of Building Officials (ICBO) or the International Code Council (ICC) to be registered by the state of Alaska to perform inspections for new construction.

House Bill 9 passed in 2003 specified a three-phase implementation of the law, this requirement being the final phase. This requirement for home inspectors to be registered by the state will not change other designations currently allowed to perform inspections.
