The Anchorage Chamber of Commerce is holding its Make It Monday Forum, a Legislative Session Preview, at noon Jan. 7 at the 4th Avenue Theatre. Senate President Rick Halford, R-Chugiak, and Speaker of the House of Representatives Brian Porter, R-Anchorage, are scheduled to present their expectations for the 2002 legislative session. The Anchorage Chamber's annual meeting also will be held during the forum, and findings of this year's audit will be presented. The cost is $14 for members and $20 for others. The Community and Technical College's Occupational Safety and Health Department at the University of Alaska Anchorage is offering a course entitled "Principles of Ergonomics" from 5:30-8:30 p.m. beginning Jan. 7 through May 4 in the UAA Engineering Building, Room 342. WOMEN$fund, a program of YWCA of Anchorage, is offering a 14-week business training course entitled "Starting a Food and Beverage Service Business on the Right Track" from 6-8 p.m. beginning Jan. 7 at the Older Persons Action Group building, 325 E. WOMEN$fund, a program of YWCA of Anchorage, is offering an "Online Starting With Success" entrepreneurship training beginning Jan. 7. The open-entry, online program covers the basics of starting a business, or growing or refocusing an existing business. The 10-week training includes organizing the company, marketing the business idea, pricing, financial statements and writing the business plan. The cost is $300. WOMEN$fund, a program of YWCA of Anchorage, is offering a course entitled "Rural Alaska Assisted Living Home Ethics in Resident Care and Business Administration" beginning Jan. 7 with distance delivery provided to home or office. The course is geared for administrators or future administrators of assisted living homes in rural Alaska. The medium includes a choice of CD-ROM, Internet or hard copy. The cost is $50. The Alaska's Women Resource Center is offering a Grantsmanship Training Program Jan. 7 -11 at the Muldoon Boys & Girls Club in Anchorage. The Grantsmanship Center provides grantsmanship training for nonprofit and community organizations. The program is designed for both novice and advanced grant seekers and covers all aspects of researching grants, writing proposals and negotiating with funding sources. The cost is $675.
