The Soldotna Chamber of Commerce has elected the following board members to serve three-year terms: Lisa Wimmer, National Bank of Alaska; Dan Mortenson, Four D Carpet One; and Dena Cunningham, McDonalds. Continuing service to the chamber board in 2001 are: Mike Frost, president; Betty Obendorf, Mike Sweeney, Sammie Cole, Paul Gray and Terry Coval.
Lisa Kropidlowski, Fred Schwaderer and Dean Syta have been recognized as associates by USKH Inc.'s board of directors. Kropidlowski joined the architectural, land surveying, planning and engineering firm in 1995 and has more than 11 years of marketing experience. Schwaderer, a land surveyor, has worked for USKH in the Anchorage and the Palmer offices for four years and has more than 23 years of surveying experience. Syta, a professional engineer, joined the firm in 1993 and has eight years experience in civil/structural engineering.
Patrick S. Cowan has joined Homer Electric Association Inc.'s board of directors. Cowan will fill a vacated position in District 2. Cowan has been a member of Homer Electric for 32 years and has a background in business and economic development. The position is up for election at the May annual meeting.
The Alaska Aerospace Development Corp. has hired Shawnessy Des Lauriers as director of business operations. Des Lauriers will be responsible for directing the corporation's contracts, procurements and financial management. Des Lauriers worked for 19 years at the Alaska Railroad Corp.
Gov. Tony Knowles has appointed Richard Mastriano director of the Division of Labor Standards and Safety. Mastriano has 11 years experience with the division and most recently served as a wage and hour investigator. Mastriano also has more than 20 years of experience as a contractor.
The Alaska Department of Public Safety Division of Fire Prevention has hired Dan Diehl as liaison to the Joint Pipeline Office. Diehl has 17 years experience with the Anchorage Fire Department. Diehl will initially conduct inspections of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System facilities to ensure compliance.
Lori Rude has joined Brady & Co. as an account manager in the property and casualty department servicing commercial accounts. Rude previously worked with State Farm Insurance in Eagle River. Katie Humphrey has joined Brady & Co. as a processing account manager in the property and casualty department. Humphrey has eight years administrative and customer service experience.
Thomas Klinkner, a member of the law firm of Birch, Horton, Bittner & Cherot, has become a shareholder. Klinkner joined the firm as a member in 1996 and practices primarily in the areas of public finance, municipal and public utility law. Klinkner is bond counsel for several Alaska cities and boroughs, and the city attorney for the cities of Wasilla and Kodiak. Tina Grovier has become a shareholder of Birch, Horton, Bittner & Cherot. Grovier joined the firm in 1994 and previously clerked for the Alaska Court of Appeals. Grovier's practice focuses on public utilities regulation and commercial litigation.
The Alaska Support Industry Alliance board of directors has chosen Larry Houle as general manager. Houle has more than 20 years of business experience in both the public and private sectors. Houle most recently served as executive director of the Municipality of Anchorage's Heritage Land Bank.
The Anchorage Home Builders Association has elected the following board of directors for 2001: president, Robin Ward of Real Estate Unlimited; vice president, Chuck Spinelli of Spinell Homes Inc.; treasurer, Jim Jackson of Northwood Homes; secretary, John Berggren of Goldenview Park Subdivision; and past president, Evan Rowland of Alaska Homes Inc.
