Obama greeted with hearty welcome at Elmendorf Air Force Base

President Barack Obama received a rousing welcome at Elmendorf Air Force Base on Nov. 12. Some 2,000 military troops and their families cheered as he saluted their service to their country and promised them the nation's support.

Construction begins in spring 2010 on Nome's new hospital

Construction will get underway in the spring of 2010 on the new $91 million Norton Sound Regional Hospital in Nome. The new facility will be more than triple the size of the existing facility, portions of which were built 61 years ago.
