Cris Rosemond is the new executive chef at Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge, which is owned by CIRI Alaska Tourism. Rosemond graduated from culinary school in 1996, and has garnered 18 years of professional experience by working in California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Thailand and Italy. His culinary abilities enriched the dining experiences at establishments such as Pazzo Ristorante and The Heathman Hotel in Portland, Ore.; Scalas’s Bistro in San Francisco; and the Jonathan Club of Los Angeles. Rosemond arrives in Talkeetna most recently from the exclusive Birnam Wood Country Club in Montecito, Calif.
Van Sanders has joined the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce as the membership engagement coordinator. Sanders held positions in a variety of companies and industries from Statewide Petroleum Services to Information Insights in the Anchorage area before, and while, completing an undergraduate degree of philosophy at University of Alaska Anchorage. In his new role, Sanders will provide education to members of the Anchorage Chamber to make sure they have access to all of their benefits to enhance their overall membership experience.
Melissa Wanamaker has joined American Heart Association and its division, the American Stroke Association, in Anchorage as business development director–Heart Walk and will be responsible for the annual signature fundraising event for the AHA. She will oversee sponsorship, community participation, and management of the event, a non-competitive 5K slated for Sept. 13, 2014, with a fundraising goal of $145,000. She will also promote and roll out the AHA’s corporate wellness initiatives under the “My Heart. My Life.” program in Anchorage. Wanamaker joins the AHA with many years of experience in community relations, public affairs, fundraising, and project management with ConocoPhillips Alaska and the American Red Cross.
Kari Skinner has joined the Anchorage 5th Avenue Mall as its new director of marketing and business development. Born and raised in Anchorage, Skinner brings several years of business, marketing and customer service experience to her new role. Before joining the 5th Avenue Mall management team, Skinner was a marketing manager at Overstock.com for 3½ years, leading their promotional programs. Before that, Skinner was an information manager at Nordstrom Fashion Place in Murray, Utah, where she was instrumental in helping employees become better sales people and teaching new technology management. Skinner graduated from the University of Nevada-Reno with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and earned her MBA from University of Utah.
Catherine Reese, who was born and raised in Anchorage, has been promoted to general manager for Midnight Sun Home Care. Reese has worked with the organization since August 2008, when she was hired as a receptionist. She was eventually promoted to staffing director and then took over as director of community outreach, in July 2013. Midnight Sun Home Care provides direct, in-home care to seniors and those with disabilities or in need of transition care. The company currently serves more than 80 families in Anchorage and the Mat-Su Valley.
Ben Heckert is the new Credit Union 1 member assistance manager. With an associate’s degree in applied business, Heckert brings his varied foreclosure and bankruptcy portfolio-management experience to the Member Assistance Department. He also has more than a decade of experience performing title research and analysis for real estate title companies and lenders engaged in the purchase, refinance, or default process. In his new position, Heckert will be responsible for managing the credit union’s consumer and real estate loan delinquencies as well as overseeing liquidation of repossessed collateral by overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Member Assistance Department.
