Deadline approaching for storm disaster assistance
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — Alaska emergency management officials say individuals have until Nov. 20 to apply for disaster assistance for damage from severe storms that hit a wide section of the state in September.
A state disaster declaration by Gov. Sean Parnell authorizes the state Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management to open disaster recovery programs for individuals.
According to agency officials, individual assistance is available to residents in affected areas, including Anchorage and Denali, Kenai and Matanuska-Susitna boroughs.
