Two seats open on the IPHC
The Department of Commerce is soliciting nominations for two seats on the International Pacific Halibut Commission.
The terms of Ralph Hoard of Icicle Seafoods and Philip Lestenkof of Central Bering Sea Fishermen’s Association expire next month. Hoard has served on the IPHC since 1993 and Lestenkof since 2002.
National Marine Fisheries Service Alaska Region Administrator Jim Balsiger is the third U.S. commissioner on the IPHC. One seat is designated for a representative of NOAA and the other two for an Alaskan resident and a non-Alaska resident.
Nominations are due by March 19, and self-nominations are allowed.
