The Prince William Sound Regional Citizens’ Advisory Council elected new board officers for the year ending in May 2015. The newly elected executive committee includes: President Amanda Bauer, representing the City of Valdez; Vice President Thane Miller, representing Prince William Sound Aquaculture Corp.; Treasurer Jim Herbert, from the City of Seward; and Secretary Cathy Hart, representing the Alaska Wilderness Recreation and Tourism Association. The three members at-large are: Pat Duffy, representing the Alaska Chamber, Andrea Korbe from the City of Whittier, and Stephen Lewis representing the City of Soldovia.

Asaaluk Irelan is the new branch manager of the Credit Union 1 Nome location. Irelan, a long-time resident of Nome, has more than eight years of experience in the banking and finance industry. From 2009 through 2013, Irelan worked for Credit Union 1 as assistant branch manager of its Nome location.

The Northrim BanCorp board of directors promoted Latosha M. Dickinson to chief financial officer, effective immediately. Joe Schierhorn, who has served as CFO since 2001, will now devote his time exclusively to being the chief operating officer. Prior to joining Northrim in 2006, Dickinson was a senior audit associate and audit associate with KPMG, working in the Anchorage offices for four years. She earned her master’s of accountancy and bachelor’s of science in accounting degrees from the University of Montana and is a graduate of the ABA Stonier Graduate School of Banking. In 2013, Dickinson earned the Wharton Leadership Certificate from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Brendan Gerdts of Bartlett High School in Anchorage is the winner of the 2014 United States Institute of Peace National Peace Essay Contest for Alaska and has earned a $1,000 academic scholarship. Gerdts’s essay, “Peace Through Unity: Bridging the Gap Between the Security Sector and the Public,” examined how security sector reform contributes to sustainable peace.

Jean Lapp has joined Denali Alaskan Home Loans as a senior loan originator. Lapp will be originating loans at the main Denali Alaskan Home Loans office located at 471 W. 36th Avenue, Suite 110 in Anchorage. Lapp has more than 20 years in the financial industry, most recently as a mortgage loan originator. In addition to originating mortgage loans, Lapp brings her experience in all aspects of the mortgage process including escrow, lending, processing and funding.

Kelly McLain has joined the account services team at Gere Donovan Creative, a multidisciplinary design and communications firm with offices in Anchorage, Alaska and Portland, Ore. Prior to joining Gere Donovan Creative, Kelly was the research director and an assistant dean at the University of Alaska Anchorage. With a master’s degree in English and a bachelor’s degree in journalism, McLain has previously been involved in a variety of writing projects across Alaska and Oregon including work for the official Alaska vacation guide, the Alaska Dispatch, Anchorage Daily Planet and The Bend Bulletin.
