Greens Creek silver production increases
JUNEAU (AP) — The owner of the Greens Creek Mine in southeast Alaska says silver production is up for the first quarter of 2013.
Hecla Mining Co. says Greens Creek produced 1.8 million ounces in the first quarter of this year.
That's up from 1.3 million ounces for the first quarter of 2012.
The Juneau Empire (http://bit.ly/12uxsyo) reports the cash cost of silver increased from $2.24 per ounce in the first quarter last year to $5.02 per ounce in the first quarter of this year.
First quarter 2013 sales for the company were $76.5 million.
Hecla announced first-quarter earnings on the state's first Alaska Mining Day.
