Summer of Heroes scholarship nominations are open

The Alaska Communications and Boys & Girls Clubs – Alaska is accepting nominations for the Summer of Heroes scholarships.

Five young Alaskans who are making a difference in their community will each be awarded a $1,500 scholarship and a trip to the Alaska State Fair. Youths ages 6 to 18 may be nominated by visiting Alaska Communications’ website (http://www.alaskacommunications.com/summerofheroes), an Alaska Communications retail store or Boys & Girls Clubs.

A hero is any youth who has raised significant funds for a cause, saved a person’s life, made a difference in school through education or sports and/or made a significant contribution to his or her community.

The nomination deadline is July 23.The final heroes will be announced at the State Fair on August 26.
