Join SMPS Alaska for an engaging and informative tour of the William Jack Hernandez Sport Fish Hatchery on Thursday, September 12 from 5:00 to 5:45 p.m.
The hatchery is the largest indoor sport fish hatchery in North America and houses more than 100 fish rearing tanks for salmon, trout, char and grayling. The innovative design uses approximately 5% of the fresh water volume and 5% of the energy required in a conventional hatchery. It is the winner of several awards and received the first Envision Gold award from the Institute of Sustainable Infrastructure.
The tour will be lead by Andrea Tesch of the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Paul Witt of HDR, and Garrett Burtner of McCool Carlson Green. Each will discuss what makes the hatchery a unique, innovative, and high functioning building.
