To coincide with the anniversary of the 1964 earthquake, the Valdez Museum will be open its Hazelet location for special hours from Mar. 27 through Apr. 5, 12 - 5 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday. The main attraction, “Remembering Old Valdez Exhibit,” is a scale model of Old Valdez as it appeared in 1963, before the earthquake. Photographs, an award-winning documentary, “Between the Glacier and the Sea,” and the story of Valdez’s Gold Rush and earthquake history round out the exhibit. Highlights include a touch-screen kiosk that features personal interviews with earthquake survivors, a furnished section of an Old Town house and exhibits about Valdez’s firefighting history.
