Dairy building damaged by fire

The old Matanuska Maid dairy building in Palmer has been damaged by fire.

KTUU-TV reports that the public safety director of Palmer says firefighters were alerted to the blaze shortly after 3:30 a.m. Tuesday. John Owen says fire crews arrived to find the building completely engulfed in flames.

Owen says the fire was just about contained an hour-and-a-half later, but he says the building looks to be a total loss. The building was boarded up and believed to be vacant.
